Our CSA Philosophy
Our CSA is driven by our commitments to sustainable, small-scale agriculture, as well as the affordability and accessibility of fresh, nutritious produce.
Community Supported Agriculture, or CSAs, tie together farmers and consumers by creating a shared bounty/ shared risk dynamic. In exchange for your season-long commitment to pay for and receive our produce, we commit to providing you with a consistent supply of quality and variable produce options.
Our model provides maximal payment flexibility to our community members. Langton Green Community Farm’s goal has always been to increase food access among historically marginalized groups. Our CSA is an extension of that philosophy. The sliding scale allows those experiencing financial or personal hardship to access our produce at a lower cost, while allowing CSA members with more disposable income to pay extra and increase food access in their community.
With a full-sized share, you will receive between 8-10 items per week; a half-sized share includes between 4-5 items per week. Each box will contain a variety of seasonal vegetables and berries, as well as cut flowers and herbs. These are farmer’s choice boxes. Each box will be a surprise, carefully and thoughtfully filled by our experienced farm crew.

You can pick up your CSA box on Saturdays at the Langton Green Community Farm in Millersville (10 a.m. – 2 p.m.) and at the Heritage Baptist Church in Annapolis (2 – 4 p.m.). Check back for updates as we may add additional sites.
What if I need to skip a week?
We do not issue refunds for skipped weeks. With at least two weeks notice, we can double your box at a time of your choosing. You can also choose to donate the contents of your box on any given week with advance notice.
Besides wonderful fresh produce, what are the perks of joining?
You get to visit Langton Green Community Farm, where we practice therapeutic care farming. You can take a tour, meet our livestock, enjoy a weekly newsletter with recipes and even priority sign up for blackberries in July for free! (space is usually limited). Members receive first consideration for the addition of an egg share, winter share, or any other products that become available.
What does Farmer’s Choice mean? What kinds of produce can I expect?
Our CSA is farmer’s choice style, which means each CSA box will be a surprise! Our experienced farm crew will carefully select a variety of seasonal produce for your share. Read more about what produce will be available throughout the season in our CSA Member Handbook.
Can I make changes to my share and payment options?
Our season is planned months in advance and making changes can be difficult. We will work with you individually to accommodate you as best as we can!
Is your produce organic?
While we are not certified organic, we do follow methods and principles to ensure your safety and reduce environmental damage.

Are there payment options?
Yes. We offer payment options regardless of your share’s size or tier. You can pay weekly, monthly or in full before the start of the season. We are developing EBT and alternative payment options and look forward to sharing details once they are available. Learn more about our approach in the CSA Member Handbook.
What if I can’t pick up my share?
If you cannot pick up your share at all in a given week, just let us know at least 3 days in advance. A friend can pick it up or you can double up on your share at a later date. If you cannot pick up your share, it will be donated to one of our partner organizations.
How do members benefit from the extra week that is included in the season?
Our CSA runs for 21 weeks from the first full week of June through the last full week of October. Our members only pay for 20 weeks of produce. We intend to provide all of our customers with exceptional value every week, but due to the uncertainties of agricultural efforts there may be times when forces beyond our control limit our harvest yield. We will provide as much notice as possible if there are any issues impacting distributions. By providing distribution for a built-in extra week (and some extras along the way) we can ensure that we’re providing that value in each share.
